Controlling Birds and Vectors in landfills

NWC's spectrum of landfill cover materials can provides both an excellent barrier to Birds and other vectors. It also provides an excellent carrier for enhancements in making sure that Birds and other vectors stay away from the waste. Crow Wing Sanitary Landfill in Brainard, Minnesota, a SWANA annual award winner, and user of ProGuard SB and NWC's bird control product known as Rejex-iT, is often cited by the FAA as a well managed site relative to controlling birds. That was not the case, before they began using NWC's daily cover material with Rejex-iT added to the slurry.

Marv Strocheim was able to take 10,000 seagulls and corvids down to a population of less than 400 birds by using the ProGuard SB product, and from time to time adding Rejex-iT to the slurry. ProGuard SB was also sprayed on loafing areas, and as the primary ingredient of the Rejex-iT material was evaporating off, birds found it uncomfortable to be standing on the material, Once trained that with vapor and the ProGuard SB, Crow Wing has not had any problems with Birds.

NWC also offers No Fleyes which is a natural product made from the Neem tree which affects the ability of flies to lay eggs. This product can also be added to the cover material slurry at the spring of the year and when flies are becoming prevalent. This additive need only be used seasonally just before when flies procreate. Otherwise, the NWC spectrum of cover materials do an excellent job of controlling birds and flies.
